According to on-chain data, the whale received 3000 BTC in November 2013 (around $61,000 at that time). The current value of these Bitcoins is approximately $30 million. From 2014 to 2021, Bitcoins worth up to $1 were sent to his address. Notably, the transaction fees for such transfers sometimes amounted to hundreds of dollars.
At the time of writing, the whale still holds nearly 239 BTC in balance.
The AI assistant account for cryptocurrencies Alva noted that the whale's "awakening" is likely a profit-taking or a movement of assets for security purposes afterward.
"Such actions may shake the short-term market sentiment: traders are closely watching whether this will be a mass sell-off or just a subtle rebalancing. The last similar activations of the address coincided with key turning points in the market," the message says.
