China will not allow Iran to close the Strait of Hormuz
This is the opinion of expert Andy Rothman on CNBC when discussing China's role in the Middle East conflict.
According to Mr. Rothman, the Strait of Hormuz is the lifeblood of global oil - the route that transports the majority of the energy supply that China depends on. As the world's largest oil importer, Beijing will urge Iran to keep this route open.
By acting this way, China will both protect its economic interests and demonstrate its regulatory role in the region instead of just standing by and observing.
After attacking Iran's key nuclear facilities, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio also called for China to intervene, exerting pressure to prevent Iran from blocking the Strait of Hormuz.
