🪙 HODL! Where does this well-known meme come from?

Some people will tell you it stands for “Hold On for Dear Life”, a reference to bitcoin’s dramatic volatility. But this is a “backronym” 🙂 It actually comes from a post on the Bitcointalk forum back in December 2013.

One user was complaining what a bad trader he was, and that he would simply be “HOLDING” in future – but he was too drunk to type properly! The idea caught on, and the community soon turned it into the ultimate Bitcoin meme.$BTC
