#USNationalDebt 🔊🤯 IMPACTFUL the national debt of the United States exceeds 36 trillion dollars 💸🇺🇸📈
The United States has the largest national debt in the world and faces growing concerns about its long-term fiscal stability.
When the government spends more money than it collects, it creates a deficit.
To cover this deficit, the government borrows more. To ensure that loans are subject to legislative approval, the United States Congress sets a limit on the amount the government can borrow to finance existing obligations, such as Social Security, healthcare, and defense. This limit is known as the debt ceiling.
Three-quarters of the American debt of 36.2 trillion dollars, approximately 27.2 trillion dollars, is held by the country, of which:
15.16 trillion dollars (42 percent) is held by American investors and private entities, mainly in the form of savings bonds, mutual funds, and pension funds.
7.36 trillion dollars (20 percent) is held by U.S. intergovernmental agencies and trusts.
The Federal Reserve holds 4.63 trillion dollars (13 percent).
