The Wisdom of Fishing
The old fisherman took his apprentice to the lakeside. When the apprentice saw the school of fish, he hurriedly cast his line but caught nothing. The old fisherman said, "First, scatter some bait." After a moment, the fish gathered, and with a gentle shake of his rod, a big fish was hooked.
The apprentice asked, "Why didn't you fish earlier?"
The old fisherman smiled, "Those who are eager to eat fruit often pick sour ones. When the fruit is fully ripe, the sweetness will come naturally."
The next day, the apprentice learned to scatter bait first and indeed returned with a full basket.
