U.S. Republican Congressman Thomas Massey has reintroduced a bill to abolish the Federal Reserve, a bill that would completely dissolve the Federal Reserve and transfer all assets and responsibilities of the central bank to the U.S. Department of the Treasury.
In his call, Massey explicitly stated his intention to abolish the entire Board of Governors and the twelve regional Federal Reserve banks. He also wants to eliminate the central banking system that has been in place since 1913, with the goal of implementation within one year. In his opinion, the various policies issued by the Federal Reserve have actually led to the current economic instability.
Massey had proposed a similar bill since 2015. Last March, he reintroduced his latest version, which is still in the early stages of legislative discussion.
However, this is not a new initiative. Ron Paul had proposed a similar idea in 1999, which was updated in several reintroductions until 2013.
