# **Vietnam Prepares Meeting with the US to Reach Trade Agreement**
Chairman of the major Vietnamese Party, To Lam, announced that he is preparing to travel to the US in the coming weeks to reach a trade agreement before the tariffs imposed by US President Donald Trump take effect.
However, the Spokesperson for the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that this meeting cannot be confirmed yet as the White House has not commented. Additionally, if this meeting takes place, the government will aim for US tariffs to be only around 20% to 25%.
For your information, Vietnam has received tariffs from Trump of 46%, which is quite high compared to several trading partner countries. Vietnam feels that their garment industry is very important to the US, so negotiation efforts should be mutually beneficial.
