The main goal of swing trading is to profit from short- to medium-term price movements; a trade is typically held for a few days to a few weeks.

Swing trading concentrates on "swings" in market momentum as opposed to long-term investing or scalping (rapid transactions). This is the fundamental tactic: Determine the trend.

To identify bullish or bearish momentum, use technical indicators such as moving averages, RSI, and MACD.

...Enter on pullbacks or breakouts — buy low in an uptrend or short-sell on breakdowns in a downtrend. Establish take-profit and stop-loss thresholds to preserve cash and lock in profits.
