This measure aims to conserve electricity for other industries. Karianne Tung, Minister of Digital Transformation and Public Management, stated that the Labour government intends to limit cryptocurrency mining in Norway as much as possible. This activity is known for its high energy consumption and minimal contribution to local employment and revenue. The government stated that this temporary ban could be implemented in the fall of 2025.
