According to PANews, Norway's government announced plans on Friday to temporarily prohibit the establishment of new data centers using the most energy-intensive technologies for cryptocurrency mining. This measure aims to conserve electricity for other industries. Karianne Tung, the Minister of Digitalization and Public Administration, stated that the Labor government intends to limit cryptocurrency mining in Norway as much as possible. The activity is known for its high energy consumption and minimal contribution to local employment and revenue. The government indicated that this temporary ban could be implemented by the fall of 2025.
