The rise of Aerodrome has many reasons, among which the most critical is the team's ability to seize opportunities.
Neither the DEX nor the (3,3) model was created by their team. However, the team is very flexible; they initially struggled with Velodrome on Optimism but gained some experience in basic DEX and (3,3) models.
Velodrome itself is a fork of the Solidly project launched by Andre Cronje. Solidly combines Curve's vote-escrow model with OlympusDAO's (3,3) game theory concept, making it a DEX as well. Later, this experience was applied to Aerodrome.
The Aerodrome team took full advantage of the opportunity presented by the recent launch of Base, collaborating deeply with Base to launch a DEX, becoming the most liquid DEX on BASE. This showcases their ability to seize opportunities, which is more about leveraging existing ideas than being original.
Once opportunities arise, they push towards new heights. This time, with BASE backed by Coinbase, and due to the concepts of compliance and hot narratives in crypto, Aerodrome once again gained an opportunity for 'momentum.'
After the original model has been validated through practical experience, the importance of operational capability gradually increases. Unless there are disruptive ideas that can be tapped into at an early stage, for most entrepreneurs, how to operate and leverage opportunities becomes crucial.
