📰 Kraken's Layer-2 Ink announces INK token and conducts first airdrop
📌 Kraken (through the Ink Foundation) is preparing to launch the INK token on the Layer-2 network "Ink" – a blockchain within the Optimism ecosystem.
📌 The total supply of INK is fixed at 1 billion tokens; it is not used for network governance but focuses on supporting the DeFi ecosystem.
📌 The first airdrop will be for users participating in liquidity pools on the Aave-based DeFi protocol on Ink.
📌 The goal is to bootstrap liquidity and support the DeFi aggregation protocol on Ink right from launch.
📌 This L2 token product is aimed at utility rather than governance, with a strategy of “no fluff, no governance theater.”
📌 The Ink network was launched in December 2024, as part of the Optimism Superchain, and received funding from Kraken to develop DeFi.
📌 Despite the highly competitive L2 token market and the common selling pressure after launch, Ink hopes to differentiate itself by quickly deploying functional DeFi applications.
