B3, a gaming protocol based on Base, acquired PC equipment manufacturer Andromeda Insights, revealing a cryptocurrency-ready desktop with a surprising feature.
B3, a third-layer gaming protocol developed on the Ethereum-based Base network by former Coinbase employees, announced on Tuesday (17) the acquisition of gaming PC manufacturer Andromeda Insights to boost its hardware push.
B3 is starting with a complete cryptocurrency-focused PC setup, featuring a storage unit that can self-destruct at the touch of a button.
“The initiative aims to enable B3 to capture the entire gaming chain—protocol, games, and hardware—while providing Andromeda with additional resources to meet product demands.”
“B3's strategic investment in an American high-performance PC platform manufacturer is a long-term bet on the future of gaming, not only in terms of graphics but also computing. AAA titles increasingly require real-time rendering, simulation, and multiplayer orchestration with 4K+ fidelity. But that's just the basics,” said Daryl Xu, co-founder of NPC Labs and main contributor to the B3 protocol, to Decrypt.
Xu added that the protocol team believes that artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming a “core gameplay primitive” and that owning the PC hardware set will allow B3 to “specifically build for that future and do so in a way that natively combines cryptography and AI.”
Your first hardware device, the B3PC, will include differentiated features specifically designed for cryptocurrencies, such as its self-destructing storage unit that can be wiped instantly, removing valuable and confidential data in the process.
“The self-destruct feature of the B3PC includes two options: a secure digital wipe that continues even in the event of a power outage and a physical destruction protocol that literally fries the NAND flash chips through high voltage,” said Xu. “Once triggered, the data disappears forever. This kind of finality is important when it comes to protecting high-value assets or sensitive key material.”
Although the entire gaming equipment is not destroyed in the process, the storage will be rendered unusable and will need to be replaced. But this may be a relatively modest expense compared to the value of your digital assets if they are compromised. The self-destruct button will be located behind a protective cover, according to the official website.
The device will also maintain an integrated hardware wallet, hardware encryption, pre-installed support for on-chain games, and an optional offline and air-gapping mode for confidential transactions.
“The B3PC comes with a hardware wallet integrated directly into the operating system. It supports secure signing, local key storage, and complete isolation of transactions,” said Xu. “From day one, it is optimized for the B3 ecosystem and the Base blockchain, where we are focusing on early games and developer activity.”
Pre-order the Gaming PC
Pre-orders for the B3PC are already open with a deposit of $200 (Brazil is not on the list provided on the website), with delivery of the devices expected in the first quarter of 2026.
Built by former members of the Base team, B3 is a protocol and network focused on gaming, built as a third layer over Base.
The protocol supports at least 80 games, including future games linked to notable Web3 IPs, such as InfiniGods and Parallel.
B3 launched its native token — B3 — in February, granting holders and participants benefits throughout its ecosystem, such as early access to games.
