After the $100 million hack of the Iranian cryptocurrency exchange, the central bank restricts operating hours
Following the attack on Iran's largest cryptocurrency exchange, Nobitex, by the pro-Israel hacker group Gonjeshke Darande, which resulted in the theft of $100 million worth of crypto assets, the Central Bank of Iran announced that domestic exchanges can only operate daily from 10 AM to 8 PM.
According to Chainalysis, the attackers were not motivated by financial gain but rather destroyed all stolen assets, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, Dogecoin, and XRP, for political reasons. Nobitex stated that the incident has been "brought under control," and they are transferring all hot wallet funds to cold wallets and activating reserve funds to compensate users for their losses.
