A person's life is actually a constant exchange of time for money. In first-tier cities, houses that are a 5-10 minute walk from large companies have monthly rents of up to 8,000 yuan. Houses that are a 30-minute subway ride away have monthly rents of 5,000 yuan, while houses that require a 1-hour subway commute have monthly rents of only 2,000 yuan. For example, the lunch I ordered at noon takes 30 minutes to walk to the restaurant and back, while the delivery fee for takeout is 15 yuan, but it saves me that 30 minutes by having the delivery person consume that commute time for me. Time is a rare, non-renewable resource, and money is the tool to acquire that resource.
