Amazon has struck a deal with Talen Energy to supply nearly 2 GW of nuclear power through 2042 to power AI data centers in Pennsylvania — the electricity will come through the regional grid rather than directly from a nuclear power plant .

Similar moves were previously made by Microsoft and Meta, which also signed long-term nuclear contracts for their AI infrastructures .
