The e-commerce platform Shopify has added payments in the stablecoin USDC as part of a partnership with the exchange Coinbase and the financial services provider Stripe. This innovation is currently available to a limited number of merchants, but its reach will be expanded later.

According to Shopify CEO Tobias Lütke, the feature was launched in early access on June 12, 2025. As noted by Stripe, it will become available to all merchants on the platform in 34 countries within a few weeks.

Their customers will be able to pay for goods and services in stablecoins through Shopify Payments and Shop Pay, using the Base network. At the same time, merchants will receive fiat or USDC of their choice.
