On June 18, CoinWorld reported that the Governor of the Central Bank, Pan Gongsheng, stated at the 2025 Lujiazui Forum that the Renminbi has become the world's second-largest trade financing currency. In terms of all-inclusive calculations, the Renminbi has become the world's third-largest payment currency; its weight in the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Special Drawing Rights (SDR) currency basket ranks globally. In the future, whether as a single sovereign currency or a few sovereign currencies as international dominant currencies, sovereign currency countries will need to assume corresponding responsibilities, strengthen domestic fiscal discipline and financial regulation, and promote structural economic reforms.
