Former President Trump suddenly left the G7 summit in Canada on Monday without any explanation. French President Emmanuel Macron claimed Trump left to work on a ceasefire between Israel and Iran—but Trump quickly denied that on Truth Social, calling Macron “wrong” and “publicity seeking.”
While the White House said Trump left because of Middle East tensions, Trump insisted it was for “something much bigger.” He later warned Iranians to evacuate Tehran and criticized Iran for not signing an unnamed deal.
Meanwhile, the G7 leaders released a vague statement on the Iran-Israel conflict, which looked weak after Israel killed a top Iranian general. China responded by offering to help calm things down.
Trump also announced a new trade deal with the UK before leaving and sparked more controversy by saying Russia should’ve stayed in the G8, claiming it might have prevented the Ukraine war.
The summit, meant to focus on global issues, ended up being all about Trump.
