Big Mistake in the Altcoin Distributed by Binance as Airdrop: 1 Token Sold for $19,687!
A user who accidentally entered the price incorrectly while creating the liquidity pool lost about $20,000 in a single transaction, while another trader made a significant profit.
In the cryptocurrency market, the cost of small mistakes can sometimes be heavy. The altcoin Spark (SPK), which Binance listed on its platform as of yesterday and distributed to users via airdrop, came into the spotlight today due to a major pricing error.
According to information shared on Twitter by Lookonchain, a user named teochew.eth unintentionally added unilateral liquidity and incorrectly set the price ratio while creating a liquidity pool for SPK and USDT. The user, who wanted to equate 1 USDT to approximately 19.93 SPK, made a reverse transaction by adding 1 SPK token to the pool at around 19,931 USDT.
As a result of this critical mistake, a trader named 0x7ef29, who noticed the opportunity as soon as the pool opened, withdrew 19,687 USDT in exchange for just 1 SPK token. By the time teochew.eth realized the mistake, it was too late. There was only 32.92 USDT and 4.69 SPK ($0.31) left in the pool, and the user incurred a loss of approximately $19,965.
This incident clearly illustrates how small oversights when setting up a liquidity pool can lead to significant losses. Users were reminded to double-check price ratios, especially when providing unilateral liquidity.
Binance listed the Spark (SPK) token yesterday under the HODLer Airdrop program and distributed 200 million SPK tokens, which corresponded to 2% of the total supply, to users. Trading began for SPK/USDT, SPK/USDC, SPK/BNB, SPK/FDUSD, and SPK/TRY pairs on Binance as of June 17, 2025, at 12:00 PM (UTC+3). At the time of listing, the circulating supply was 1.7 billion SPK. Spark (SPK) was introduced as a project that distributes capital among DeFi, CeFi, and real-world assets.
