Last week, Aster announced that there would be no more deposit rewards.
As a result, the supply of USDF has been decreasing; from a peak of 146M, it is now only 77M, a drop of about 50% (data from DeFillama).
➤ Friends who haven't redeemed yet are probably in:
1) Speculation: holding Aster assets will still grant airdrop weight;
2) Transferring assets to the contract account for trading rewards;
Officially, they have already taken snapshots, so there shouldn't be any more airdrops, but who knows.
A recent deposit I made into Aster has not even been half a month, and while it was included in the airdrop snapshot, the redemption will deduct 0.1% of the principal, which, according to the asUSDF interest rate, is equivalent to 6 days of loss.
It's a bit frustrating, but there's nothing to be done.
I had originally set aside some funds specifically for Aster and StandX. The original plan was to use Aster deposits to earn interest and speculate on airdrops, and after Aster's TGE, transfer it into StandX to continue earning interest and speculating on airdrops, but now that's been expedited.
Interestingly, after a massive deposit into StandX two weeks ago, its stablecoin DUSD has been steadily increasing in supply every day.
I estimate that many friends share my thoughts: first Aster, then StandX.
However, StandX has not completely absorbed the outflow of funds from Aster, which indicates there isn't much competition yet, as the contract features haven't launched, and we are still in the early bird phase.
After all, both support the BNB Chain, have Binance backgrounds, and are both Perp DEX products with stablecoins.
In fact, the minting and redemption mechanisms of the two stablecoins are similar: minting is free, and redemption is 0.1%, but can be exchanged directly on-chain.
Not long ago, the on-chain price of DUSD was below 1 USDT, and now it is above 1. I had originally thought of compensating for the USDF redemption loss through on-chain exchange, but that plan is no longer viable.
I can only deposit early and earn back this loss quickly, 🤣
Lastly, I have to complain about Aster; your actions are just too slow!
