On June 14, 2023, the National Assembly of Vietnam passed the "Digital Technology Industry Law," incorporating crypto assets into the national legal regulatory system. This law will take effect on January 1, 2026. The law clearly categorizes digital assets and requires exchanges and project parties to meet international standards for cybersecurity, anti-money laundering, and plans to launch a "digital asset sandbox." In addition, the new law provides support for digital infrastructure, aiming to activate "sleeping assets" in the private sector, but also faces challenges such as departmental coordination and market education.
