On 14 June 2025, Vietnam’s National Assembly passed the groundbreaking Digital Technology Industry Law, formally legalising crypto assets under a two-tier classification—virtual and crypto—while excluding securities, stablecoins and CBDCs. The law, effective from 1 January 2026, enshrines international-standard AML and cybersecurity protocols to strengthen investor protection and align with FATF requirements . Crucially, it unlocks substantial incentives—tax exemptions, land-use benefits and R&D grants—to accelerate development in AI, semiconductors and digital infrastructure, supported by nationwide workforce training and revised education curricula.
