The National Assembly of Vietnam approved the Digital Technology Industry Law, officially recognizing and regulating digital assets for the first time.
Starting January 1, 2026, the law separately classifies "virtual assets" and "crypto assets," excluding securities and CBDCs, and grants the government the authority to issue detailed regulations. It also emphasizes compliance with cybersecurity standards, anti-money laundering, and counter-terrorism financing (CFT) regulations.
