#VietnamCryptoPolicy Vietnam has recently passed the Law on Digital Technology Industry, officially recognizing and legalizing crypto assets. Approved on June 14, 2025, the legislation will come into force on January 1, 2026.

The law distinguishes digital assets into two categories: virtual assets and crypto assets, while clearly stating that they are not to be treated as securities or digital fiat currencies. This initiative aims to provide a clear regulatory foundation, encourage foreign investment, and support technological advancement—especially in areas like AI and blockchain.

As the next step, the government will develop detailed implementation guidelines, including licensing procedures and stringent Anti-Money Laundering (AML) measures—key steps in addressing concerns raised by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).
