In February 2025, Vietnamese police arrested four individuals responsible for a fake cryptocurrency mining platform, BitMiner, which masqueraded as a Dubai-based company. The scam deceived over 200 victims and stole more than 4 trillion Vietnamese dong (157,300 dollars) through the sale of fake mining packages and educational materials.
In another significant incident that occurred in December 2024, the Hanoi Police Department in Vietnam prevented 300 potential victims from investing in an elaborate cryptocurrency scam that had already defrauded 30 billion Vietnamese dong (1.17 million dollars) from around 100 companies and 400 individuals.
Under the name Million Smiles, the company promoted its own cryptocurrency, QFS (Quantum Financial System), using misleading advertising that linked it to ancestral treasures and spiritual claims.
