#VietnamCryptoPolicy Vietnam has recently enacted the Law on Digital Technology Industry, which officially legalizes crypto assets. This landmark legislation, approved on June 14, 2025, is set to take effect on January 1, 2026.
The new law classifies digital assets into two categories: virtual assets and crypto assets, though it explicitly excludes them from being considered securities or digital fiat currencies. This move aims to establish a clear regulatory framework, attract foreign investment, and foster digital innovation, particularly in AI and blockchain. The government is now tasked with developing detailed implementation guidelines, including licensing and robust Anti-Money Laundering (AML) standards, crucial for addressing Financial Action Task Force (FATF) concerns.
