#VietnamCryptoPolicy
is in a phase of adaptation and strengthening of its capabilities in the field of cryptocurrencies. With the recent approval of the Digital Technology Industry Law, which legalizes crypto assets starting in January 2026, the country is emerging from a "gray zone" regulatory framework.
This implies that, while the use of cryptocurrencies has historically been an area of legal uncertainty, the authorities, including the police, now have a clearer framework to monitor, investigate, and prevent related illicit activities, such as money laundering or fraud. The creation of the Cybersecurity and High-Tech Crime Prevention Directorate in 2021, as well as plans for a regulatory "sandbox," demonstrate Vietnam's commitment to closely supervise this evolving sector and ensure a safer digital environment.
