Hanoi and Washington made progress in the third round of trade talks in Washington, but critical issues remain unresolved, reported the Ministry of Trade of Vietnam.

The negotiations took place against the backdrop of the approaching end of a break in 46% tariffs on Vietnamese exports imposed in April, which intensified pressure for compromise.

The USA demands Hanoi, among other things, to reduce dependence on Chinese materials, which Vietnamese officials described as "tough" conditions. The parties have narrowed their differences, but further analysis and dialogue continue.
