Metaplanet Hits 10,000 BTC: What’s Next for Corporate Bitcoin Ownership?

Metaplanet, Asia’s largest corporate holder of Bitcoin, just made headlines by purchasing an additional 1,112 BTC for $117.2 million, pushing its total holdings to 10,000 BTC—worth around $947 million at an average price of $94,697 per coin. This milestone comes just six months into 2025, far ahead of schedule!

But Metaplanet isn’t stopping there. The company has issued $210 million in 0% ordinary bonds to fund even more Bitcoin purchases, and its new goal is to hold 210,000 BTC—1% of the total Bitcoin supply—by 2027. The market has reacted strongly: Metaplanet’s stock jumped 24% on the Tokyo Stock Exchange today, and its year-to-date gains are an eye-popping 425%.
