On June 14, 2025, the National Assembly of Vietnam adopted the Law on Digital Technology Industry, which officially recognizes digital and crypto assets. The document will come into effect on January 1, 2026.

Some provisions of the law:

Classification of digital assets. They are divided into two groups: virtual assets and crypto assets. Both groups use encryption and digital technologies for authentication and transfer, but exclude securities, digital fiat currency, and other financial instruments.

Government responsibilities. It must define the conditions for business, categories of operations, and compliance requirements for activities involving digital assets.
