#VietnamCryptoPolicy Vietnam has established a legal framework for cryptocurrencies, with the Digital Technology Industry Law approved on June 14, 2025. This law, effective from January 1, 2026, formally legalizes digital assets.
The legislation aims to comprehensively regulate cryptocurrencies, including licenses, consumer protection, and strict anti-money laundering (AML) standards. Its goal is also to improve Vietnam's position before the FATF and promote technological innovation.
Although there is no specific "crypto police," existing Vietnamese security forces and cybercrime units will be responsible for enforcing this new regulation.
Vietnam has demonstrated a high adoption of cryptocurrencies, ranking as the fifth country globally in the 2024 Global Crypto Adoption Index. This new policy is a response to the growing presence of digital assets in the country.
