On June 14, 2025, the Vietnamese National Assembly officially recognized the legal status of cryptocurrency assets by passing the "Digital Technology Industry Law" and introduced several supporting policies. According to the latest developments, the law categorizes digital assets into two types: "virtual assets" and "cryptocurrency assets," and offers tax reductions, land support, and other incentives for companies in the fields of artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and digital infrastructure.

At the compliance level, Vietnam plans to pilot cryptocurrency exchanges (the plan was disclosed in March 2025) while establishing a legal framework to regulate the market. In addition, the Vietnamese government will launch a digital asset innovation regulatory sandbox, allowing new projects to test products in a controlled environment, thereby reducing the initial compliance burden. Although the law has been passed, the specific implementation effects still need to be observed in terms of the details of policy implementation.
