#IsraelIranConflict

The conflict between Israel and Iran is rooted in decades of political, religious, and ideological tensions. Iran does not recognize Israel's right to exist and has frequently called for its destruction, while Israel views Iran as an existential threat due to its nuclear program and support for militant groups.

Iran backs anti-Israel factions like Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in Gaza, providing them with weapons, funding, and training. Israel, in response, has conducted airstrikes in Syria and elsewhere to disrupt Iranian arms shipments and military influence.

A major flashpoint is Iran’s nuclear program. Israel fears a nuclear-armed Iran and has allegedly carried out sabotage attacks on Iranian facilities. The U.S. and other Western nations have imposed sanctions on Iran, while Israel has pushed for stricter measures.

In April 2024, tensions escalated when Israel reportedly bombed an Iranian consulate in Syria, killing senior military officials. Iran retaliated with a direct missile and drone attack on Israel—the first such strike from Iranian soil. Israel then launched a counterstrike inside Iran.

The conflict risks broader regional war, with the U.S. and other nations working to prevent further escalation. Diplomatic efforts, including stalled nuclear talks, remain critical to easing tensions.
