Vietnam’s National Assembly has passed the groundbreaking Digital Technology Industry Law on June 14, 2025, bringing Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies into a regulated, legal framework for the first time . The law (effective January 1, 2026) classifies digital assets into “virtual assets” and “crypto assets” — excluding securities and fiat — and mandates stringent AML, counter-terror financing, and cybersecurity measures to align with FATF standards . Additionally, it introduces incentives like tax breaks and R&D support for AI, semiconductors, and blockchain firms, signaling Vietnam’s ambition to emerge as a regional digital tech powerhouse .
