Cryptocurrencies in Vietnam, taking slow but steady steps.

Vietnam has legalized cryptocurrencies under a new law on digital technologies.

Vietnam has approved a broad law on digital technologies that legalizes crypto assets and provides incentives for the development of AI, semiconductors, and related infrastructure.

The National Assembly of Vietnam passed the Digital Industry Law on June 14, marking the beginning of the regulation of digital assets.

The new regulations will come into effect on January 1, 2026. They will legalize crypto assets and create a foundation for other innovations.

The law also includes provisions on cybersecurity and anti-money laundering in accordance with international standards, likely in response to concerns from the Financial Action Task Force (FATF). Since 2023, Vietnam has been on the organization's 'gray list'.
