Vietnam has passed the Law on Digital Technology Industry, granting full legal recognition to crypto assets and establishing a regulatory framework effective January 1, 2026. The law categorizes digital assets into virtual assets and crypto assets, excluding securities and digital fiat currencies. A two-tier classification system will distinguish between non-financial tokens and assets based on cryptographic technologies like Bitcoin and Ethereum. The government will develop guidelines on licensing, compliance, consumer protection, and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) standards. This move is expected to boost market confidence, attract institutional investors, and encourage broader adoption of digital assets in Vietnam .
