Ethereum (ETH) has had a bumpy year, falling 24% since January 1st and sitting a whopping 48% below its peak price. But don’t rule ETH out just yet: prediction markets are buzzing with optimism. On Polymarket, 25% of traders are betting that ETH will hit $3,000 by the end of the month, while Kalshi’s bets also show plenty of confidence for the crypto world at 2.
Ethereum’s Future Divides Prediction Markets—$1K Crash or $6K Rally?
Ether ’s $306 billion market cap represents 9.3% of the $3.27 trillion cryptocurrency world—but it hasn’t been all sunshine and rainbows. It’s down 0.5% from last month, and is a full 36% below where it was six months ago, down 24% since the beginning of the year. Priced at $2,532 per ETH , it’s also trading at around 0.02402 BTC. However, a bet on Polymarket with $4.58 million at stake shows a 25% chance that $3,000 per ETH could be on the table by June 30.
About 12% of traders are betting that Ethereum will hit $3,200, while a solid 56% say $2,300 is the most likely outcome. A separate Polymarket forecast with $6.45 million in speculative volume on ETH’s price by the end of the year puts the odds of a $4,000 price at 38%. There’s also a 24% chance of Ethereum rising to $5,000 and a 16% chance of it hitting $6,000. That said, an equally weighted bet of 16% predicts that ETH could drop to $1,000 by December 31.
On the Kalshi prediction platform, the odds currently put ethereum hitting $4,000 or more in 2025 at 35%—a 3-point increase. The forecast for a move to $4,500 has grown to 31%, reflecting a 7-point gain. Meanwhile, a $5,000 target looks less compelling, with only 21% believing it will happen this year. So far, $321,301 has been invested on these results.
With millions at stake across a range of possible outcomes, ethereum’s path forward is far from settled. The tension between short-term bearish performance and long-term bullish speculation reveals a market plagued by uncertainty—but also potential. Whether ETH rebounds or retreats, one thing is clear: traders are not shying away from betting that big moves are still to come.
