ChainCatcher News, U.S. President Trump stated before his departure to Canada for the G7 summit that he believes there is a "great possibility" for Israel and Iran to reach an agreement, but also mentioned, "Sometimes they need to fight a war." "I hope an agreement can be reached; I think it's time to reach an agreement, but we have to see how it goes," Trump said. "However, sometimes they must fight a war." He added, "I think the chances of reaching an agreement are very high."
Trump also stated that the U.S. and Iran "get along very well" and claimed, "I think Israel and Iran also respect each other very much." However, when asked if he had requested Israel to suspend airstrikes against Iran, Trump declined to respond clearly, only stating, "I don't want to say that." This notion of "let them fight a war" is reminiscent of his earlier remarks regarding the Russia-Ukraine conflict—he compared the Russia-Ukraine conflict to "two kids fighting in the park," believing that sometimes "letting them fight a bit before intervening can be more effective."
