There’s a shocking confession from the intelligence world! CIA Deputy Director, Michael Ellis, recently revealed that Bitcoin (BTC) is now actively used for various operations of this secret agency. In fact, according to Ellis, the CIA's involvement with Bitcoin has reached the level of US national interest!
Bitcoin Becomes an Important Data Source for the CIA
Ellis disclosed that the CIA has been collaborating with other law enforcement agencies to explore the Bitcoin ecosystem. The goal? To be used as an important data source for their counter-intelligence activities.
"There is extraordinary potential for law enforcement and the intelligence community to be able to use it," said Ellis in a podcast with investor and market analyst Anthony Pompliano last May.
Bitcoin Adoption Is Positive & Part of Geopolitical Strategy!
In Ellis's view, the increasing number of major institutions adopting Bitcoin technology actually makes Bitcoin even cooler and more relevant. He sees this trend as positive and fully supported by the current US government.
“Bitcoin will continue to exist, as will other crypto assets. I think it’s a good trend,” added Ellis.
In fact, Ellis also mentioned that some countries adopting Bitcoin are also part of their geopolitical strategy.
Government Involvement = More Mature?
Indeed, many think that government interference in crypto deviates from the original spirit of Bitcoin that emphasizes freedom and privacy. However, Ellis sees it as a sign that Bitcoin is becoming more mature and widely accepted.
