Moscow (Reuters) – The Kremlin said that President Vladimir Putin spoke with his American counterpart Donald Trump for 50 minutes on Saturday, condemned the Israeli military operation against Iran, and expressed concern about the risks of escalation.
Kremlin advisor Yuri Ushakov told reporters, 'Vladimir Putin condemned the Israeli military operation against Iran and expressed his deep concern about the potential escalation of the conflict, which would have unpredictable consequences for the overall situation in the Middle East.'
Oshakov mentioned that Trump described events in the Middle East as 'very concerning.' Ushakov added that the two leaders confirmed that they do not rule out returning to the negotiation track regarding the Iranian nuclear program.
Regarding Ukraine, the Russian news agency reported that Putin informed Trump of Russia's readiness to continue negotiations with the Ukrainians after June 22.
Oshakov mentioned that Trump confirmed his interest in a quick resolution to the conflict.
Putin also congratulated Trump on his seventy-ninth birthday.
