According to PANews, the authorities in Russia's Buryatia Republic have uncovered an illegal cryptocurrency mining operation during routine inspections of power lines in the Baikal Lake area. The operation was concealed inside a Kamaz truck, drawing electricity from a 10-kilovolt line. The truck contained 95 mining devices and a mobile transformer station. However, two individuals involved in this operation fled the scene in an SUV before the police arrived.

Buryat Energy Company, a subsidiary of Siberian Power Company, reported that there have been six cases of electricity theft related to cryptocurrency mining since the beginning of this year.
