The White House initiates a review of SpaceX contracts amid dispute between Trump and Musk
According to PANews, the White House has directed the Department of Defense and NASA to gather detailed information on SpaceX's billion-dollar contracts following a public dispute between U.S. President Donald Trump and Elon Musk. Four sources told Reuters that the U.S. government has begun reviewing, instructing relevant agencies to thoroughly examine the contracts awarded to Musk and his company, possibly preparing for retaliatory measures. The Pentagon is also assessing whether to reduce SpaceX's involvement in the U.S. next-generation missile defense system project.
A White House spokesperson, when responding to Reuters via email, did not address Musk's business issues but stated, "The Trump administration is committed to a rigorous review process for all bids and contract executions." Meanwhile, a NASA spokesperson stated that the agency "will continue to collaborate with industry partners to ensure the achievement of the President's goals in the space sector."
Sources indicated that the purpose of the contract review is for the government to be able to respond quickly if President Trump decides to take action against Musk. One insider remarked, "This review is preparing ammunition for a political battle." $TRUMP $ENA
