Dogecoin (in English: Dogecoin or DOGE) is a decentralized and open-source digital currency, created in December 2013 as a joke on the hype surrounding cryptocurrencies, but it quickly turned into a real currency with popularity and spread.
🛠️ How does Dogecoin work?
1. Its technical origin
Dogecoin is a fork (modified version) of Litecoin, which itself is built on Bitcoin's code, and uses a proof-of-work mining mechanism with the Scrypt algorithm.
The time to create each block is about a minute, compared to about 10 minutes for Bitcoin.
2. Mining reward and issuance
For each completed block, miners receive 10,000 DOGE.
There is no maximum supply; about 5 billion new DOGE are issued annually.
3. Decentralized network
It operates on a peer-to-peer network and is not subject to any central authority.
