Law enforcement agencies of the Republic of Buryatia, Russia, seized a modified KamAZ truck illegally connected to a 10 kV line in the Baikal region, containing 95 cryptocurrency mining rigs and a mobile transformer, stealing enough electricity to supply a small village; two suspects escaped the scene in an SUV. Local grid operator Rosseti Siberia pointed out that this is the 6th case of mining site electricity theft in Buryatia this year, with frequent illegal connections causing voltage drops, overloads, and increasing the risk of blackouts.
