✍️ The Queen of Cryptocurrency: The Most Wanted Fugitive in Europe
"Ruja Ignatova," known as the "Queen of Cryptocurrency," has become one of the most wanted fugitives in Europe after deceiving hundreds of thousands around the world with a fake currency she launched in 2014 called OneCoin.
She managed to gather about £12.9 billion in one of the largest financial frauds in history, before disappearing completely in 2017, leaving behind a network of accomplices, most of whom were arrested, including her brother.
Ruja used a Ponzi scheme model to promote the currency, claiming that over 3 million people had invested in it, while the currency did not actually exist on any real blockchain.
Despite the years that have passed, European police are still unable to locate her.
Journalist Jamie Bartlett suggested that she may have completely changed her appearance and identity, while Europol faced criticism for offering a very low reward (£4,100) for information leading to her arrest.
Strangely, the OneCoin project continues to deceive some to this day, especially in Latin America, Asia, and Africa.
