The Israeli–Palestinian conflict (often referred to as the Israel–Palestine conflict or Israeli–Arab conflict, depending on the context) is a long-running and deeply complex political, territorial, and religious dispute primarily between:
Israel, a country established in 1948 as a homeland for the Jewish people, and
Palestinians, the Arab population that lived in the region before Israel’s creation, who seek a state of their own in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
