✍️ The Queen of Cryptocurrency: The Most Wanted Fugitive in Europe
"Ruja Ignatova," dubbed the "Queen of Cryptocurrency," has become one of the most wanted fugitives in Europe after defrauding hundreds of thousands around the world through a fake currency she launched in 2014 called OneCoin.
She managed to collect around £12.9 billion in one of the largest financial scams in history before disappearing completely in 2017, leaving behind a network of accomplices, most of whom have been arrested, including her brother.
Ruja used a Ponzi scheme model to promote the currency, claiming that over 3 million people had invested in it, while the currency did not actually exist on any real blockchain.
Despite the passing years, European police are still unable to determine her whereabouts.
Journalist Jamie Bartlett suggested that she may have completely changed her appearance and identity, while Europol has faced criticism for offering a very low reward (£4,100) for information leading to her arrest.
Strangely, the OneCoin project continues to deceive some people to this day, especially in Latin America, Asia, and Africa.
