United States.. Court of Appeals upholds tariffs imposed by Trump

The U.S. Federal Appeals Court ruled yesterday evening, Tuesday, to uphold the tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump, while accelerating the pace of consideration of the appeals submitted regarding them.

The court's decision came in response to a request from the Trump administration, which means that the tariffs enacted at the beginning of April will remain in effect during June and July, at least, pending new deliberations scheduled for July 31.

The decision extends the effect of a previous ruling by the same court that suspended the implementation of a decision by a commercial court in New York, which had considered that Trump exceeded his executive authority by imposing these tariffs without returning to Congress.

About 20 plaintiffs, including companies and U.S. states, are challenging the legal basis on which Trump relied to impose these taxes, arguing that this authority belongs to the legislative branch.
