ai blockchain hedera

Hedera Foundation has announced a new and ambitious collaboration with Accenture and EQTY Lab. The goal? To provide governments with concrete tools for verifiable AI governance, based on decentralized and tamper-proof technologies.

AI and Blockchain: a strategic synergy for the public sector

The project, officially presented on June 11, 2025, in Washington D.C., aims to integrate the technological expertise of three key players: the Hedera Foundation, promoter of the homonymous open-source public network based on a proof-of-stake leaderless mechanism; Accenture, a global giant in consulting and digital innovation; and EQTY Lab, a technology lab specializing in creating solutions for verifiable trust in AI.

This alliance aims to provide an infrastructure capable of ensuring auditability and integrity in automated decision-making processes, leveraging the Hedera network and the Verifiable Compute technology developed by EQTY Lab.

AI and autonomous agents: the need for trust

According to Bryan Rich, Senior Managing Director and Global AI Lead for the health, public administration, and defense sectors at Accenture, the adoption of AI in the public sector is accelerating, driven by the desire to achieve large-scale impacts. However, this change also entails a growing demand for control, reliability, and transparency.

“The combination of these technologies,” stated Rich, “not only enhances operational governance but positions the Hedera network as a fundamental platform for scaling AI responsibly, reducing costs, and strengthening the security of autonomous solutions at the enterprise level.”

Verifiable Governance Modules: the heart of the project

One of the central elements of the initiative is the development, by Accenture, of a reference and pricing model to make the verifiable governance modules based on Hedera accessible and integrable into ERP systems and digital platforms of the public sector.

These modules, developed in collaboration with EQTY Lab technology, will initially be tested in selected AI and machine learning applications, with the aim of demonstrating their effectiveness in ensuring traceability and accountability in automated processes.

Hedera technologies at the service of transparency

The Hedera network provides two key tools for this initiative: the Hedera Consensus Service (HCS) and the Hedera Token Service (HTS). These technologies allow for the creation of an immutable record of AI decisions and actions, ensuring data integrity even in distributed digital environments.

Accenture will collaborate with Hedera to develop operational playbooks and implementation strategies that fully leverage these capabilities, providing the public sector with a solid framework for the adoption of AI on a large scale.

EQTY Lab: trust as a foundation

According to Jonathan Dotan, founder of EQTY Lab, trust in AI cannot be taken for granted, especially in high-impact contexts such as public administration.

“In critical environments, trust in AI must be earned, not assumed,” said Dotan. “This collaboration demonstrates how it is possible to bring verifiable and responsible AI into institutions, where transparency and integrity are not optional, but fundamental requirements.”

Blockchain and AI: convergence for the governance of the future

The agreement between Hedera, Accenture, and EQTY Lab represents a concrete example of how the convergence between blockchain and artificial intelligence can address a global necessity: that of AI governance which is transparent, decentralized, and verifiable by design.

In a context where governments are faced with managing increasingly complex data and decisions, often distributed across heterogeneous digital systems, this solution offers a way to maintain institutional control and ensure that every automated decision is traceable, justifiable, and compliant with public accountability standards.

The protagonists of the project

The Hedera Foundation is a key entity in the Hedera ecosystem, committed to promoting the growth of decentralized finance (DeFi) and enterprise applications on the Hedera network. The Foundation supports developers, innovators, and builders through funding, resources, and specialized consulting, guiding them from ideation to production.

EQTY Lab is a cutting-edge technology lab dedicated to reinventing trust in AI. Its flagship product, AI Guardian, uses cryptography to ensure that AI agent governance is verifiable, explainable, and accountable. Its solutions find application in the public sector, life sciences, and finance.

A future of responsible and transparent AI

The initiative launched by Hedera Foundation, Accenture, and EQTY Lab marks a crucial moment for the evolution of AI in the public sector. In an increasingly automated world, the ability to ensure verifiable governance and data integrity is not just a competitive advantage, but an ethical and institutional necessity.

Thanks to this collaboration, governments will have concrete tools to adopt artificial intelligence in a responsible, safe, and transparent manner, laying the foundations for a future in which technology serves public trust.
